About Us

Del Popolo began as a food truck on the streets of San Francisco in May 2012. Created by Jon Darsky, the truck quickly garnered international acclaim for its soft, Neapolitan-style pizzas, as well as for its novel food truck architecture including a glass-encased shipping container featuring an Italian-made, wood-burning brick oven.

In 2015, Del Popolo expanded to include a brick-and-mortar restaurant in San Francisco’s Nob Hill, featuring Darsky’s sought-after pies and a changing menu of market-driven dishes. The San Francisco Chronicle’s awarded the restaurant 3 stars shortly after its opening.

Del Popolo’s mission has always been to make high-quality, hand made food more accessible (Del Popolo translates to “of the people” after all!). So, at a time when many of us have been eating at home more than ever, we’re excited to make a frozen version of our pizza available to pizza-loving customers across the United States. Historically, frozen pizza has been a race to the bottom, with companies using the cheapest ingredients and the biggest short cuts available. We’re different. Every frozen pizza you buy has been made by hand in California, with the same high-quality ingredients, naturally-leavened sourdough and wood-fired baking that our San Francisco customers have enjoyed for years.
